About Rebecca
Rebecca Fishel, a former university professor and professional actor, is well-known in the development and delivery of interpersonal/nonverbal communication skills training using theatre practice for individuals and groups.
An acknowledged leader in the field, Rebecca is regularly invited to present on non-verbal & interpersonal communication subjects at national and international conferences. Her most recent presentation was a two-day workshop as a pre-conference event for the Global Skills Legal Writing Conference at John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
Rebecca's firm, Beyond Words HD Consulting, coaches and trains lawyers and other professionals in communication techniques that aren't typically addressed in college or graduate program curriculums that don't specialize in speech. She emphasizes non-verbal aspects of communication -- such as eye contact, facial expressions and focus on people you're speaking to -- that are tough to describe in a textbook but which can be critical to sealing a business deal or convincing a jury of your client's innocence.

Effective Listening, Productive Hearing
Have you ever heard someone say, “S/he only hears what she wants to”? That’s a far truer sentiment about each of us than we are probably comfortable acknowledging.
Newtonian physics has led to a worldview of the body as a sophisticated machine...a thing of levers and engines. This idea is beginning to be replaced by a new view of the body informed by Einsteinian and quantum physics that “The biochemical molecules that make up the physical body are actually a form of vibrating energy.”
Vibrational medicine views the body as a “complex, integrated life-energy system that provides a vehicle for human consciousness as well as a temporary housing for the creative expression of the human soul.”
Vibrational medicine theory views illness as caused not only by toxins, germs and trauma, but by chronic dysfunctional emotional-energy patterns.
For the past few decades complementary medical practice has been exploring different forms of energy to collectively heal the body, mind and spirit. Reiki is one form of holistic energy healing.
Touching to comfort and relieve pain, or the laying on of hands, is as old as instinct. When humans are hurt, they immediately put their hands on the spot. Reiki is therefore an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch.
Reiki helps people become energetically balanced, physically, mentally and spiritually.
Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being. It can:
Bring on a meditative state.
Foster tissue and bone healing after injury or surgery.
Stimulate your body’s immune system.
Promote natural self-healing.
Relieve pain and tension.
Support the well-being of people receiving traditional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and kidney dialysis.
Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being. It can:
Peace
Relaxation
Security
Wellness
What conditions does Reiki treat?
Reiki isn’t specific to any particular type of disease or condition but may help people with:
Cancer
Chronic pain
Infertility
Digestive problems
Parkinson's Disease
Psychological distress including depression and anxiety
Stress-related illnesses
Reiki may help you prepare for surgery which in turn may boost your recovery afterwards.

"Ms. Fishel has great insights into what an individual can do to strengthen any type of presentation or interpersonal…She has a very respectful way of explaining her field to those of us who are not knowledgeable in it, and she converts the skeptics by producing strong results. Professor Fishel’s innovative and excellent work was a major factor contributing to the national reputation of our program."

“The result of the work was ultimately vital in moving key staff toward higher, more productive consciousness about their work in the new company. Rebecca’s experience…has given her just the right kind of leadership character to be able to fashion a room full of cynical, skeptical journalists into an eager and motivated bunch of storytellers. Having been a part of the exercise, I can personally attest to the effectiveness of her approach.”
