We are born with perfect integration of mind, spirit and body, but as the years go by the world impacts us more and more until eventually, we dwell in our head/mind and the integration of the spirit and the mind with the body begins to diminish.
Physical mindfulness lets us choose how we will live our path, how we will meet each moment in the day with power and peace. Using an integrative method drawing from movement studies such as Reiki, Laban, Alexander technique, Rubenfeld Synergy, Authentic Movement and 30 years’ experience as a teacher, performer and healer, Rebecca Fishel works with groups and individuals to guide them on the path to finding their way back to the Self.
Join Rebecca for this series of workshops, where you will begin with the breath, going on a journey of exploration of your individual interior landscapes, learning to open, relax and ground as you go. While not particularly strenuous, this class requires participants to invest in exploring movement through space with breath, attention and openness. Dress comfortably and casually and come join us and see where it might lead you!
Space is limited, so please register early to guarantee your space. You should be able to commit to all sessions, so please check your schedules to make sure you are free for all days. What you learn in the first session and practice during the week will help make subsequent sessions that much more valuable. You will be able to see the results of your work!
Workshop One - Self
All workshops begin with relaxation and moving away from the stress-now.
We begin with an exploration of your “Body Lived,” An exploration of now.
What is tension? How does it impact your body?
Where/how do you brace against life?
Who are you now as you live in your body?
How does this impact on thought and communication?
Exercises to address the stress/tension.
Workshop Two –The Still Small Voice
Once you get beyond the stress/panic/tension of living in the world, where do you go?
This session explores how to listen to what your body is telling you.
How to find that information.
And what to do with it once you recognize it.
We will learn exercises that will help both access the information and help use it to good effect.
Workshop Three - Taking it into the world
What happens when we engage with others?
How does adding the presence of another person in the moment impact our understanding of ourselves?
How can we stay centered in the world when the energy of another person pulls on us?
Exercises to identify and mitigate the pressures created by interacting with others.
Workshop Four – Putting it all together
How has your body habit changed over the years?
What happens as you release old habits and move more and more to a neutral place?
What can you do now to live more healthily with yourself and others in the world?
Number of attendees: 12 – 15 recommended
Length can vary from: 90 minute subject introduction to two-day interactive exploration
